Venturing Youth Protection

This course is required for all adult Venturing leaders. This training will help leaders understand and guide youth through possible problems as it relates to abuse. You will also learn about the issues you may face as a leader to help provide a safer environment for the crew members and to protect yourself from false accusations. This training is available online or on a DVD. Estimated time to complete: 40 minutes.

Please note: This course is different than Youth Protection (Course Code: Y01).  If you are dual registered with a Pack/Troop and a Crew/Ship, you will need to take both course.

Leader Position-Specific Training

Venturing Adult Training is divided into Venturing Advisor Position-Specific Training and Venturing Crew Committee Position-Specific Training.

Venturing Advisor Position-Specific Training is available as an instructor-led course, either as a council-wide offering or it can be held at a place and time that is convenient for your troop. If you are willing to host one of these courses, please consider allowing adults from other local troops to attend, as that makes for more productive discussions and more effective sharing of leadership tips and techniques. Please contact your district training chair for more information.

The Venturing Advisor Position-Specific Training course is also now available online on the Training Center as a part of the MyScouting platform.

Seabadge

Seabadge is intense leadership and management training focused on the “how-to” aspects of managing a successful youth led Sea Scout program. While Seabadge was developed as an advanced leadership training program for experienced Sea Scout adult leaders the course is open to all adult Scout leaders.  The driving theme for the training is to “Focus on Youth”, which makes the course especially valuable for any Scout leader dealing with older youth.  Seabadge does not cover topics like boating, knots, or other program-related materials found in the Sea Scout Manual.
