FSR Adult Training
The MCBSA Camping and Training committees are working together to provide better opportunities for adult leader training during our summer camp season at Forestburg Scout Reservation, but we need your help to make this effort successful.
First, we need adult volunteers to help teach the courses listed under “Period T – Training” on page 31 of the 2012 FSR Leader’s Guide. Providing these courses helps us to maintain the accreditation of our FSR Summer Camp program. Your assistance will help us to avoid having to cancel one or more of these important sessions. More importantly, though, it will help us to serve better the adults who attend summer camp at FSR. The courses are:
·
Ham Radio License (T1)
·
BSA Lifeguard (T2)
·
Safe Swim Defense / Safety Afloat (T3)
·
Climb on Safely / Trek Safely (T4)
·
Leave No Trace (T5)

·

·
NJ Hunters Safety (T8)
·
Swimming and Water Rescue (T9)
·
Paddle Craft Safety (T10)
· Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS, T11)
·
Boy Scout Leader-Specific Training (BSLST, T12)
BSLST will be taught on Monday and Tuesday in the Billett Dining Hall from 1:00pm until 4:30pm. Adults participating must attend both sessions. To sign up for this course, please use the code "T12" on your consolidation form.
IOLS will be taught Monday thru Friday between 9:00am and 12:30pm and some possible evening sessions. Adults signing up for this course will be scheduled at different times during the days. This scheduling will be done with the Scoutcraft director at camp. IOLS is an in-depth course and requires multiple hours each day to complete. Time needed will depend on the experience level of the participant. To sign up for this course, please use the code "T11" on your consolidation form. Since IOLS is all about proficiency in teaching outdoor skills to youth members, participants and staff will assist the FSR staff who are running the Buckskin Camper and Frontier Camp programs (see pages 11 and 12 of the Leader’s Guide). This will provide a real hands-on opportunity for learning, plus it will be a great benefit to our young campers.
Please help us by including training in your plans for summer camp at FSR this year. For more information, or to sign up for any of the above, please contact your District Training Chair (BG: Bill Sauer; TB: Don Paterson; and TL: Sandy Byard).
Your pre-registration is important. It’s the only way we can properly plan. Thanks!
